Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an evening at the pub, stewing in your own juices. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (67-73) scored more runs than the Colorado Rockies (57-82) last night, 11-4, in the third of four games at Petco Park.

James Shields (11-6, 3.90) had a rough first inning but settled down to go six innings with four runs allowed on eight hits, four walks, and four strikeouts. In the first inning, Charlie Blackmon reached on an error and Jose Reyes walked. Carlos Gonzalez then singled to left field and Blackmon was thrown out at home. After Nolan Arenado popped out, Justin Morneau and DJ LeMahieu hit back-to-back singles to score Reyes and Gonzalez. In the fourth inning, Corey Dickerson walked and Dustin Garneau hit his first Major League home run. Bud Norris and Marcos Mateo each pitched a shutout inning of relief. Odrisamer Despaigne pitched the ninth inning and gave up two hits, but got Ben Paulsen to fly out to right field to end the game.

Chris Rusin (5-8, 5.14) pitched just three innings, giving up six runs on eight hits and a walk with one strikeout. Matt Kemp hit a solo home run in the first inning. In the second inning, the Padres loaded the bases and Rusin walked Shields for a run. Jedd Gyorko hit a three-run home run in the third inning, scoring Yangervis Solarte and Kemp. And back-to-back doubles from Derek Norris and Melvin Upton Jr. made the score 6-2 after three innings. The Friars scored another three runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh inning.

This afternoon at 12:40pm PDT Tyson Ross (10-10, 3.21) takes on Jorge De La Rosa (9-6, 4.24) in the rescheduled game from July 19th that was rained out.
