While You Were (Mother’s Day) Drinking 2015 Game 33 (SD at ARI)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending Mother’s Day at the Hotel Del Coronado’s Crown Room brunch. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking bottomless mimosas.

The Padres (17-16) scored one fewer run than the Arizona Diamondbacks (14-16) yesterday at Chase Field, 2-1, for a series split in Phoenix.

Andrew Cashner (1-6, 3.07) pitched seven innings, giving up just the two runs on four hits and no walks with six strikeouts. Aaron Hill hit a solo home run in the second inning and A.J. Pollock hit another one in the third. However, the Friars were unable to get any clutch hits against the Diamondbacks’ five pitchers.

Daniel Hudson (0-1, 4.80) started the game for the Diamondbacks, his first start since undergoing the first of two consecutive Tommy John surgeries in 2012, with three and one-third innings. J.C. Ramirez (1-0, 3.38) relieved Hudson and surrendered the lone Padres run on a Jedd Gyorko double to score Will Venable in the sixth inning.

The Padres are off tomorrow as they travel to Seattle for two games against the “natural rival” Mariners to compete for the Vedder Cup. TBD gets the start against the Mariners and James Paxton (0-2, 5.08) on Tuesday evening at 7:10pm PDT.
