While You Were Drinking: Game 95 (SD vs SF)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

San Diego Padres.

San Francisco Giants.

Tim Lincecum.

No-hitter.

9-0.

Did I miss anything else? F**k it. I’m going to keep drinking.

The Padres play their last game before the All-Star break today at 1:10pm PDT. Eric Stults starts against the Giants’ Barry Zito.

Quotes:

“The team’s pissed! The team is pissed off! You know, we’re not swinging the bats, we’re not pitching. You know, we’re not playing the way that we can play. There’s no doubt about that. We’re not getting it done! Bottom line. We’re not getting it done on the mound, we’re not getting it done on the plate…but we’ve got to get it done. We’ve got to get it done on the field. We’ve got to get it done in the clubhouse, coaches, myself…We all gotta get it done. Okay?”
Bud Black – (Fox Sports San Diego)

“No, not really…”
Jedd Gyorko, answering Kelly Crull‘s question of “When you witness something like this, is it impressive?” – (Fox Sports San Diego)

Something, something, “two strikes.”

Sorry, Bill Center (aka, Sez Bill). I had to.

Actually, I’m not sorry. Blame Andy Masur.

  • In hindsight my decision to watch a season 5 marathon of Breaking Bad last night seems all the more prescient.

Did Buddy force the media horde to go into the shower when he said that quote?

  • Wait, is Cashner wearing a “Little Ninja Amarista” tank? Because he’s making it really hard to dislike him.

    • Cashner has a wonderful blend of quirkiness. So we have that going for us right?

There’s a cool piece from Jeff Sanders in the U-T last night about Cashner. It includes multiple Fangraph’s citations.

I like to think I was doing the giants fans a service. Do they really want to look back on this game and remember playing with a beach ball or watching every pitch? Also I’m a no-fun jerk.
