While You Were Drinking: Game 88 (SD vs WAS)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

Padres lose 5-4. 8 straight losses.

Yasmani Grandal is injured during a force play at home plate.

Padres are currently 40-48 and 6.5 games behind Arizona in the NL West.

What else can I say?

Well, at least Everth Cabrera is going to the All-Star Game.

Today it’s Robbie Erlin against Stephen Strasburg at 10:35am PDT. I’ll be honest with you: I don’t like the Padres’ chances of snapping this losing streak today.

Recaps:

Padres lose eighth straight – Chris Jenkins (UT San Diego)

Two up, two down: Nationals 8, Padres 5 – Jeff Sanders (UT San Diego)

Marquis solid, but bullpen shaky in loss to Nats – Andrew Simon (mlb.com)

Quote:

“I think not good, not good. The Nationals doctor took a look at him and said it looked like some damage to the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and MCL (medial collateral ligament.)”

Jesus Guzman home run

Jesus Guzman hits a 3-run homer in the 6th to put the Padres ahead 4-3.
Yes, I’m good at screengrabs.

Jesus Guzman makes a leaping grab to turn a double play in the 2nd.

Bryce Harper made a halfway decent catch in the top of the 6th.

Later in the top of the 6th, Guzman’s 3-run home run gave the Padres a 4-3 lead.
