Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres lost to the Phillies last night, 7-5 in 13 innings dropping them below .500 (39-40) for the first time in over a week. The good news is that Robbie Erlin was fantastic and the teams ahead of and even with (Arizona, Colorado) the Padres lost while the team directly behind them (San Francisco) dropped their third in a row. The bad news? The Padres defense looked shaky (Quentin, Blanks, Forsythe) and the Dodgers are surging, just 6 back of division leading Arizona. Puig for MVP!!!!
Forsythe errors prove costly in 13th inning – Corey Brock (mlb.com)
Two up, two down: Phillies 7, Padres 5 – Jeff Sanders (U-T)
“He got some balls up early in the game, but settled down,” Black said. “It was a matter of dialing in his fastball. That’s a good, experienced lineup over there. He did a great job. I’m very proud of Robbie. He pitched with the fastball, both sides of the plate.” [Brock]

Forsythe boots a grounder from Ben Revere for error #1 and then misfires to home plate for error #2 in the 13th inning.
Robbie Erlin had a fine outing in place of the injured Clayton Richard, which is nice.
