While You Were Drinking: Game 160 (SD vs SF)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres were smacked around by the Giants last night in San Francisco, 7-3. It wasn’t even that close.

Burch Smith surrendered 6 runs on 8 hits — 3 of which were home runs — and 3 walks while striking out a respectable 8 in 5 2/3 innings.  Ryan Vogelsong, on the other hand, only gave up 2 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings. Vogelsong only had 3 K’s, which tells me his defense was better. And he didn’t serve up the long ball.

Jedd Gyorko and Tommy Medica had the only RBI’s against Vogelsong, knocking in Chris Denorfia both times. Logan Forsythe came off the bench to hit a pinch hit solo home run off of reliever Javier Lopez in the 9th inning.

This afternoon, Eric Stults takes the hill against Yusmeiro Petit at 1:05pm PDT in the penultimate game of the 2013 season.

Jedd Gyorko hammers a double off the wall in right to score Chris Denorfia before getting TOOTBLAN at third to end the inning.

Tommy Medica lines a single to left off Ryan Vogelsong to drive home Chris Denorfia in the first and give the Padres an early lead.

Chris Denorfia races over to cut off a single in the gap, then Gregor Blanco gets TOOTBLAN.

Logan Forsythe drills a pinch-hit solo shot over the wall in center to cut the Giants’ lead to four runs in the top of the ninth.
