While You Were Drinking: Game 151 (SD vs PIT)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a long night at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (71-80) came back against the Pirates in the ninth inning to pull out the victory, 3-2. Rene Rivera had a great game both behind and at the plate, throwing out Andrew McCutchen and Felix Pie on the basepaths and hitting the go-ahead run in the ninth against Pirates closer Mark Melancon.

Andrew Cashner was inserted as a pinch-runner and scored the tying run on a Jedd Gyorko single. Padres fans both cheered and winced as he slid into home plate headfirst.

This morning, it’s Breakfast Baseball at 9:35am PDT, with Ian Kennedy against Gerrit Cole and the Padres go for the 4-game sweep and try to make it 32-10 in PNC Park.

Here’s Andrew Cashner as he “dresses the deer” at home plate:

Rene Rivera does it all for the Padres, throwing out two runners at second and hitting the go-ahead single in the ninth.

Ronny Cedeño fields a grounder on the hop and makes a quick throw to first for the out.

Tommy Medica chops a grounder to third and beats the double play, allowing Jedd Gyorko to score the Padres’ first run.

Reymond Fuentes runs in on Pedro Alvarez‘s shallow liner to center and makes the catch for the out.

Logan Forsythe singles to right and pinch-runner Andrew Cashner motors home from second, beating the tag to tie it in the ninth.
