Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
After a comeback win Friday night following Edinson Volquez‘s (hopefully) last appearance as a Friar, the Padres and Eric Stults came ever so close to beating Jeff Samardzija and the Cubs Saturday night. But — as the saying goes — close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, as the Padres lost 3-2.
Stults solid, but Samardzija limits Padres – AJ Cassavell (MLB.com)
Forsythe error costly in loss to Cubs – Bill Center (UT San Diego)
“Venable has a lot of momentum, a lot of confidence. He’s swinging great. When they make mistakes, he’s swinging, he’s not taking them. And he’s squaring them up.”
Black on Will Venable‘s hot bat. (Center)
Gwynn's work in the booth is really quite good. Offers a lot of analysis without having that "know it all" mentality.

Pearl Jam at Petco. No mariners, but cubs so its more appropriate.

Samardzija just threw his 42nd pitch … in the fifth inning. Volquez threw that many to get 1 out last night. #misshimalready
