While You Were Drinking: Game 126 (SD vs. PIT)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

Tyson Ross was off his game last night but got the Padres into the 7th at 3-1 before the floodgates opened and the Pirates pushed ahead 8-1. This game was not a complete loss however. Well yes it was. But there was a positive: Jedd Gyorko. The guy can hit a baseball and he can also field his position. So we’ve got that going for us.

The Padres are officially in last place at 56-70, 1/2 game behind the San Francisco Giants. Ian Kennedy tries to get the Padres 1 game in the series today at 3:40 pm when he faces rookie Gerrit Cole

Gyorko’s blast lone spark for sluggish Padres – AJ Cassavell (mlb.com)

Two up, two down: Pirates 8, Padres 1 – Dennis Lin (U-T San Diego)

“The expectation level with Tyson may be a little bit unfair here, early on, with where he’s been,” Padres manager Bud Black said. “Not his best command of the fastball, not his best slider, but he ended up getting us into the seventh inning.” [Cassavell]

A nice double play by Jed Gyorko and Ronny Cedeno:

Jedd Gyorko smashes a linedrive HR. A seed. A laser-show if you will. Unfortunately it was not a  . . . showerball.

Jedd Gorko make a nice pick-up and tosses it to Nick Hundley for the force at home.
