Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
Tyson Ross was off his game last night but got the Padres into the 7th at 3-1 before the floodgates opened and the Pirates pushed ahead 8-1. This game was not a complete loss however. Well yes it was. But there was a positive: Jedd Gyorko. The guy can hit a baseball and he can also field his position. So we’ve got that going for us.
Gyorko’s blast lone spark for sluggish Padres – AJ Cassavell (mlb.com)
Two up, two down: Pirates 8, Padres 1 – Dennis Lin (U-T San Diego)
“The expectation level with Tyson may be a little bit unfair here, early on, with where he’s been,” Padres manager Bud Black said. “Not his best command of the fastball, not his best slider, but he ended up getting us into the seventh inning.” [Cassavell]
"Ronny? Did we get new players?" -Daughter #1 on this strange player in the batters box. #Deno

Mike Dee's talking about developing great players but hasn't said anything about extending them.

I love the late 90s too but man is Dee hammering that point home. #PPLive

Alonso weighs more than Boog Powell but swings the bat like Luis Durango.

Jedd is the only thing making this game interesting. #PPLive

I just feel sorry for Chase Headley at this point.

Jedd Gyorko smashes a linedrive HR. A seed. A laser-show if you will. Unfortunately it was not a . . . showerball.
