While You Were Drinking: Game 121 (NYM vs SD)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

Tyson Ross and Zack Wheeler hooked up in a pretty good pitcher’s duel.  Wheeler went 6, allowing 1 run while striking out 12.  Ross went seven, allowed one run and stuck out 8.  Rene Rivera hit his first ML triple in the third but was not allowed to complete the diamond.  Tyson Ross was cut down at the plate on a close play in the fifth.  That call at home changed the game.  Luke Gregerson allowed a 2-out, 2-run double to Marlon Byrd which broke the game open.  New York tacked on a run in the ninth and took a 4-1 win.

The Padres fall to 54-67, 16.5 games behind the Dodgers.  Ian Kennedy goes tonight after WineFest.

Ross’ gem goes for naught against Mets – Brock (MLB.com)

“I’m definitely not as fast as I thought I was,” Ross said, managing a smile. “I’m not used to sliding. I think that’s the first time I’ve had to slide since I was 18.” (Brock)

Chase Headley hustles, beats the throw and scores the Padres lone run.  You can’t put a price on that.

Highlights of Tyson Ross‘s great outing.

A call that changed the game – Ross called out at the plate in the fifth.  Where is instant replay when you need it?  Might not have reversed the call, but most definitely worth looking at again just to be sure.
