While You Were Drinking: Game 116 (SD vs CIN)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres beat the Reds by a score of 3-1 last night to improve to 53-63 and remain in 3rd place.

The Reds’ 3rd baseman Jack Hannahan had a career high 3 errors and the Padres took advantage. Tyson Ross pitched 7 innings with 6 strikeouts and Will Venable hit a solo home run in the eighth inning.

Today’s rubber game has Ian Kennedy taking the mound against San Diego’s own Mike Leake at 10:10am PDT .

    First time since we’ve moved here in 2011 that my wife and I have been to a game that the Padres won. It was a fun night at the ballpark. Before the game, Venable hit a BP homer out of the ballpark and maybe into the Ohio River. I met a few other Padres fans and had good talks with them. Fans of both teams loved my jersey. The highlight of the night though came on the way out of the ballpark, when I had this conversation with a Reds fan:

    Fan: When the heck did the Padres change their uniforms?
    Me: Which time?
    Fan: Well when did they switch to navy? I thought they were brown.
    Me: They switched to navy in 1991.
    Fan: ::embarrassed laughter:: OH!!!
    And then I proceeded to explain all the different colors they’ve tried to use along with the stupid navy: orange, white, sky blue, sand, grey.

    There’s a picture of me and my wife attached with this post. She wore the Reds giveaway hat all night because she thinks it’s really cute. She called herself a confused fan all night long.

    I’ll be there again today with some local buddies.

    Next year I think we need to get some Padres Public crew out here for the Padres series. We’ll eat some Skyline, have Graeter’s Ice Cream for dessert, and watch some Padres wins at GABP.

    • Cincinnati sounds fun. Can you talk to my wife?

        Will there be Cincy chili involved?

        Anytime. We love taking people to Skyline! Don’t invite Bob Scanlan though. He hates the stuff!
