While You Were Drinking: Game 113 (SD vs. BAL)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Orioles’ Adam Jones returned home to San Diego and went nuts, going 4 for 4 with a HR. Meanwhile, the Padres left 71 runners in scoring position. Needless to say the Orioles won the game 4-1 dropping the Padres to 52-61 on the season. Edinson Volquez looked shakier than a 13 year old at his first dance but after 6 innings it wasn’t far fetched to say that he pitched an alright game. Unfortunately it wasn’t good enough.

The Padres and Orioles get it going at 12:40 pm today: Eric Stults vs. Miguel Gonzalez.

Two up, two down: Orioles 4, Padres 1 – Jeff Sanders (U-T)

“Our situational hitting was not good tonight,” Padres manager Bud Black said. “There were a couple of at-bats that weren’t very good. We had some pitches to hit and either took them or fouled them off. We’ve got to do a better job.” [Brock}

San Diego Gulls

The San Diego Gulls eating . . .  pizza? I missed this last night.

Bud  Black on offense

Bud Black discusses what it’s like to leave 71 runners in scoring position.

Will Venable led off the game with a triple. He never scored but that’s not his fault. I could see ol’ vILL thriving in the lead-off spot.
