While You Were Drinking: Game 108 (SD vs. CIN)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres won again last night, this time by a score of 4-2. Edinson Volquez pitched alright and they got a couple of runs off of Mat Latos to keep it close before scoring 2 more in the 8th when Nick Hundley ripped a double down the line. After a stretch in which they went 3-18 the Padres have now won 9 of their last 13 games. What does this mean? This was my thought as the game ended last night:

Accurate, no?

The Padres (50-58) are still in 4th place but inching towards Colorado who are in 3rd. Eric Stults and Homer Bailey get after it today at 12:40 pm. Day baseball!

Hundley’s clutch double lifts Padres to late victory – Corey Brock (mlb.com)

Two up, two down: Padres 4, Reds 2 – Dennis Lin (U-T)

“Normally I can get first-pitch strikes and make them hit pitches you want them to hit. I wasn’t able to do that,” Latos said. “Falling behind is what hurt me today. It raised my pitch count up. I wasn’t able to go as deep in a ballgame as I could have.” [Brock]

Bud presser

At no time during this press conference did Bud Black say, “You know what that is? That’s baseball.”

When Will Venable is good he sure is fun to watch. He just missed a HR on this swing, hitting it off the CF wall.

Nick Hundley with the a big hit in the 8th pushes the Padres ahead.

  • We ordered the consistent 2013 Padres, but got the weird one instead. What’s the exchange policy?

  • Lonnie Brownell

Have a friend who went to both of these games vs the Reds. Trying to get him to go to today’s, since, of course, he must be the reason they won.

And see? He didn’t go and the Padres LOST. Pffft.
