While You Were Drinking: Game 100 (SD vs. MIL)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres improved to 44-56 with a series opening win against the Ryan Braun-less Milwaukee Brewers. Andrew Cashner picked up his 6th win in the 5-3 victory and Jesus Guzman delivered the goods.

Tyson Ross is on the hill today for the 5:10 pm start.

Two up, two down: Padres 5, Brewers 3 – Jeff Sanders (U-T)

“I thought Cash, after a high pitch-count first, was the key to the game,” said Padres manager Bud Black. “The game could have gotten squirrely there.

“[The slider is] a pitch he’s been working on. I think he got four strikeouts on sliders. To bring that into his arsenal will help him in the second half.” [Brock]

Andrew Cashner threw 6 innings and struck out 6. It feels like a while since his Ks matched or exceeded innings pitched. Nice.

Watch Andrew Cashner slide feet first into first base on this bunt single. What on earth . . .

Jesus Guzman hit a HR and the Padres didn’t lose. Monumental.
