Sometimes things can get a little fuzzy after an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (43-56) scored fewer runs than the New York Mets (46-51) last night, 5-3, in the first of four games at Petco Park.

Clayton Richard (5-11, 5.37) pitched eight innings, giving up five runs on twelve hits and two walks while striking out eight. Wilmer Flores led off the second inning with a home run. In the third inning, Yoenis Cespedes tripled to drive in Asdrubal Cabrera and Jay Bruce singled to score Cespedes. Bruce singled in the fifth inning to drive in Michael Conforto. Jose Reyes scored in the eighth inning on a Travis d’Arnaud single.

Jacob deGrom (12-3, 3.30) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in eight innings with eight strikeouts. Hunter Renfroe hit two solo home runs: the first landed on the roof of the Western Metal Supply Company building in the seventh inning and the second was to dead center in the ninth inning. Carlos Asuaje doubled to drive in Jose Pirela in the eighth inning.

Tonight Jhoulys Chacin (9-7, 4.26) starts against Seth Lugo (4-2, 4.05) with first pitch set for 7:10pm PDT.
