Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (36-48) scored fewer runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (38-48), 7-5, last night in the second of three games at Chase Field.
Christian Friedrich (4-4, 4.42) surrendered five runs on six hits and no walks with five strikeouts in five innings. In the third inning, Jean Segura scored on a Paul Goldschmidt single and Rickie Weeks followed that up with a three-run home run. Segura scored again in the fifth inning on a Goldschmidt sacrifice fly. In the seventh inning, Segura struck again with an RBI single to drive in Jake Lamb. Michael Bourn then tripled to drive Segura home a third time.
Zack Godley (2-0, 5.28) pitched five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two. Wil Myers‘ triple cleared the bases and Yangervis Solarte singled after Matt Kemp walked in the third inning, driving in Myers. Myers scored again in the fifth inning on Kemp’s double and Kemp scored on an Alex Dickerson double one out later. Ryan Schimpf hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.
In tonight’s series finale, starting at 6:40pm PDT, Colin Rea (5-3, 4.79) takes the mound against Shelby Miller (2-8, 6.85).

"Uh, what?" is because A) Is that true? Doesn't seem like it, but it could be because B) If it's true, that's REALLY stupid & really MLB.

I might like Wil Myers more than burritos. MIGHT!!!

It almost feels like the fans that are actually in attendance at Chase Field are there solely for the air conditioning.

These Diamondbacks uniforms look like if an Otter Pop made a baby with a Simon game.
— The Kept Faith (@thekeptfaith) July 6, 2016
This is decidedly not a shutdown inning from Friedrich, if you're into that kind of thing.
— AJ Cassavell (@AJCassavell) July 6, 2016
I could sure use a kale salad to flush out all the Friedrich in this game.
— Kevin Boileau (@CornfedFriar) July 6, 2016
Kudos to @Mudcat55 for correcting himself and admitting an honest mistake.

Ryan Schimpf settles for a single. Things feel wrong.
— Kevin Boileau (@CornfedFriar) July 6, 2016
That's two games in a row that the Padres have gotten the out on a ball that bounced off the pitcher. That's pretty lucky.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) July 6, 2016
Per Don Orsillo, tonight's game is the lowest home attendance in Diamondbacks' history, 14,110. #Padres

Is the grey patch on the back of Arizona's jerseys meant to show you where the jet pack goes? #SDvsARI

Just noticed that Colin Rea strikes a strange resemblance to Christian Friedrich… or so my TV tells me. *cough* @FOXSportsSD #Padres

I don't think this Villanueva guy is championship material.

Villanueva: The Nick Vincent not from Ramona. #Padres

Ryan Schimpf likes to hit baseballs hard.
— Kevin Boileau (@CornfedFriar) July 6, 2016
Schimpf has really been hitting the last week or so. Sometimes you just have to give a guy a chance. #Padres

Oh hey, Wil Myers has 4 hits.
— Nathan Veale (@VocalMinorityNV) July 6, 2016
