Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (26-40) scored fewer runs than the Miami Marlins (34-31), 5-2, last night at Petco Park.

Drew Pomeranz (5-7, 2.88) gave up all five Marlins’ runs in the first inning. Chris Johnson‘s RBI single with the bases loaded and one out scored Adeiny Hechavarria. The next batter, Jeff Mathis, hit a grand slam home run with Johnson, Martin Prado, and Marcell Ozuna on base. Pomeranz ended his night after five innings, with five hits, five walks, and six strikeouts.

Tom Koehler (5-6, 4.25) pitched six innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. Alexi Amarista drove in both Padres’ runs. Amarista’s RBI single scored Ryan Schimpf, who had hit a double in his first Major League at-bat, with two outs in the second inning. In the fourth inning, Amarista had another RBI single to score Christian Bethancourt, who, like Schrimpf, had reached on a double.

This afternoon’s series finale pits Luis Perdomo (1-2, 9.50) against Justin Nicolino (2-3, 4.76) starting at 12:40pm PDT.
