Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (20-29) scored more runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (21-29) last night, 10-3, in the first of three games at Chase Field.

Christian Friedrich (1-1, 1.65) pitched seven shutout innings, giving up just three hits and a walk while striking out five. In the eighth inning, Brandon Drury hit a two-run home run with one out off Keith Hessler. With two outs in the ninth inning, Jake Lamb‘s solo home run off Luis Perdomo gave the Diamondbacks their third run. Nick Ahmed was then hit by a pitch but Michael Bourn struck out to end the game.

Robbie Ray (2-4, 4.67) gave up five runs in four and two-thirds innings on nine hits and two walk with eight strikeouts. With two outs in the first inning, an RBI single scored Jon Jay. Jay later scored again in the third inning with a Wil Myers RBI single. Matt Kemp and Yangervis Solarte hit back-to-back solo home runs with one out in the fifth inning and Derek Norris hit a two-run home run in the same inning two batters later. In the sixth inning, Solarte hit his second home run of the night, a three-run shot with one out and Myers and Kemp on base. Again, two batters later, Norris doubled to plate Melvin Upton Jr.

Tonight at 7:10pm PDT, Cesar Vargas (0-2, 3.34) takes the mound against Zack Greinke (5-3, 4.59) in the second game of the series.
