Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (19-27) scored fewer runs than the San Francisco Giants (28-19) at AT&T Park, 1-0, in the first of three games last night.

Drew Pomeranz (4-4, 1.70) did not surrender a run in his seven innings, striking out four with two hits and four walks. Brandon Maurer pitched an inning of scoreless relief, with one hit and a walk. Brad Hand lost the game in the ninth inning. After Brandon Belt led off the inning with a single, Brandon Crawford struck out and Gregor Blanco popped up to Brett Wallace. Hunter Pence then hit a ball to shallow right field that was misplayed dropped just in front of Matt Kemp for a double, scoring Belt and giving the Giants the victory.

Johnny Cueto (7-1, 2.70) pitched another complete game — his third one against San Diego this season — giving up just two hits and no walks with six strikeouts. Kemp singled in the fourth inning. Alexei Ramirez was hit by a pitch and Alexi Amarista singled in the eighth inning. But that was it for Padres baserunners.

Tonight, Andrew Cashner (2-3, 4.93) comes off the disabled list and gets the start against Jeff Samardzija (6-2, 2.66) at 7:15pm PDT in the second game.
