Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (51-70) scored more runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (50-71) last night, 9-8, in the first game of four at Petco Park.

Paul Clemens (2-2, 4.82) surrendered three runs on eight hits and three walks in five innings while striking out three. In the first inning, while walking Paul Goldschmidt, Clemens threw a wild pitch on ball four, allowing Jean Segura to score. A single by Welington Castillo drove in Goldschmidt. Another single by Castillo in the fifth inning scored Goldschmidt again. Segura hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning, a double by Mitch Haniger drove in Yasmany Tomas. Michael Bourn singled in Rickie Weeks Jr. in the eighth inning. And another single by Haniger in the ninth inning scored Jake Lamb.

Archie Bradley (4-8, 4.91) gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings. Travis Jankowski scored the first Padres’ run in the first inning on a Yangervis Solarte ground out. In the third inning, Wil Myers‘ single scored Jankowski, Alex Dickerson reached on a fielding error by Segura to drive in Myers, and Solarte and Dickerson scored on a single by Christian Bethancourt. In the sixth inning, pinch-hitter Edwin Jackson walked, reached third base on a Jankowski double, and scored on a passed ball to Myers. A bases-loaded Dickerson double in the eighth inning drove Jankowski, Myers, and Solarte in for the last three Padres’ runs.

Tonight’s second game will feature Jarred Cosart (0-1, 5.03) getting the start against Zack Greinke (11-4, 4.31) beginning at 7:40pm PDT.
