Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (48-64) scored fewer runs than the Pittsburgh Pirates (56-54), 6-4, in the first of three games at PNC Park. The start of the game was delayed for 36 minutes due to rain.

Luis Perdomo (5-6, 6.80) pitched five innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks while striking out three. An RBI ground out by Sean Rodriguez drove in David Freese in the second inning. Rodriguez singled in the fourth inning to drive in Freese again. In the fifth inning, Gregory Polanco hit a three-run home run with Josh Harrison and Andrew McCutchen on base and a Francisco Cervelli double scored Freese.

Chad Kuhl (2-0, 3.91) surrendered two runs on five hits and four walks in six innings with four strikeouts. Alex Dickerson‘s RBI double scored Yangervis Solarte and a single by Jabari Blash drove in Dickerson in the first inning. Wil Myers led off the eighth inning with a solo home runs. And Blash led off the ninth inning with a solo home run.

Tonight, Edwin Jackson (2-2, 5.00) starts the second game of the series at PNC Park versus Ryan Vogelsong (1-1, 3.25). First pitch is scheduled for 4:05pm PDT.
