Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (46-52) scored more runs than the Miami Marlins (40-57), 3-1, last night at Petco Park.

Ian Kennedy (6-9, 4.58) gave up just one run in six innings on seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Derek Dietrich homered to lead off the seventh inning.

Marlins’ starter David Phelps (4-7, 3.86) also pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. In the first inning, the Padres loaded the bases against Phelps and a Yonder Alonso sacrifice fly scored Yangervis Solarte. In the second inning, Kennedy doubled to right field and scored on a Will Venable single. a Melvin Upton Jr. pinch-hit single that Martin Prado deflected to right field scored Clint Barmes.

This afternoon has Odrisamer Despaigne (3-7, 4.98) taking the hill against Mat Latos (4-6, 4.48) at 1:10pm PDT in the final game of the four-game series.
