While You Were Drinking 2015 Game 9 (ARI vs SD)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (5-4) scored more runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (4-4) last night, 5-1, as Odrisamer Despaigne (1-0, 0.00) pitched another gem, this time as a starter. Despaigne lasted seven innings while only allowing one run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Joaquin Benoit relieved him in the eighth, getting out of the inning with some help defensively from a double play turned by SS Alexi Amarista & 2B Yangervis Solarte that was rather impressive.

Jeremy Hellickson (0-2, 6.55) was knocked around for six and two-thirds innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits and three walk with six strikeouts. Justin Upton hit his second home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning with a towering solo shot to left field that landed underneath the scoreboard in the first row of the second deck. Matt Kemp tripled in the bottom of the seventh that RF Mark Trumbo misplayed.

Dale Thayer pitched the ninth inning to wrap up the Friars victory.

Brandon Morrow (0-0, 0.00) takes the hill versus Chase Anderson (0-0, 5.40) tonight at 6:10pm PDT at Petco Park. It’s College Night, which doesn’t mean anything to me. Maybe it does for you.
