Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (31-32) scored fewer runs than the Los Angeles Dodgers (36-25) last night, 4-3, in the first of three games at Petco Park in a battle of the bullpens.

Odrisamer Despaigne (3-4, 4.38) pitched six and a third innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Adrian Gonzalez was ejected in the seventh inning for arguing balls and strikes, but not before getting the first RBI of the game with a single in the third inning. A.J. Ellis knocked in Justin Turner with a single in the fourth inning. Turner and Alex Guerrero had RBI singles in the eighth inning to put the Dodgers ahead for good.

Clayton Kershaw (5-3, 3.36) was taken out after six and two-third innings, after allowing only one run — a Clint Barmes solo home run with one out in the seventh inning — on four hits and three walks with eleven strikeouts. Wil Myers then reached on a two-base error by Turner, who was moved to first base after Gonzalez’s ejection. Reliever Yimi Garcia then gave up a two-run home run to Derek Norris to give the Padres a short-lived 3-2 lead.

Tonight, Ian Kennedy (3-5, 6.48) takes the hill against Zack Greinke (5-1, 1.92) at 7:10pm PDT in the second game of the three game series.
