Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (28-28) scored more runs than the Cincinnati Reds (23-30) last night, 6-2, in a game interrupted by a rain delay of one hour and nine minutes with two outs in the top of the sixth inning.

Tyson Ross (3-5, 3.75) gave up the two runs in five innings on five hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Both Reds’ runs came in the fifth inning on a Joey Votto single, scoring Tucker Barnhart and Billy Hamilton. Dale Thayer, Brandon Maurer, Joaquin Benoit, and Frank Garces each pitched a shutout inning in relief, with only one hit off Garces in the ninth inning.

Raisel Iglesias (1-1, 5.11) was sent to the DL with a strained oblique before the game, so rookie Jon Moscot (0-1, 7.20) was called up to take Iglesias’ start. Moscot got behind early and Reds were never able to recover.

The Padres loaded the bases with one out in the first inning, then Yonder Alonso walked, scoring Derek Norris. Will Middlebrooks then hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Justin Upton to score. Will Venable hit a solo home run with one out in the second inning. In the third inning, Middlebrooks hit another solo home run. In the sixth inning, Alexi Amarista hit a double to score Cory Spangenberg in the sixth inning, then the rain delay began. In the seventh inning, Norris hit a solo home run for the Padres final run on the night.

This afternoon, Andrew Cashner (2-8, 3.46) starts against Michael Lorenzen (1-1, 3.06) at 1:10pm PDT in the second of three games from Great American Ballpark.
