Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening at the pub.  Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (27-28) scored more runs than the New York Mets (29-24) last night, 7-3, to win their three game series at Petco Park.

James Shields (7-0, 3.58) remained undefeated, allowing two runs in seven innings on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Curtis Granderson scored the Mets’ first run with one out in the sixth on a Ruben Tejada double to left field. The second run came in the seventh inning on a Anthony Recker single to score Wilmer Flores with one out. Recker scored the Mets’ third run in the ninth inning when Kevin Plawecki hit a pinch-hit double off Craig Kimbrel, who pitched the ninth inning in a non-save situation.

Dillon Gee (0-3, 4.46) only lasted four innings, giving up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk with just one strikeout. In the first inning, Yonder Alonso was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Derek NorrisJustin Upton then scored on a Will Middlebrooks sacrifice fly to center field.

In the fourth inning, Cory Spangenberg and Alexi Amarista crossed the plate on a Will Venable single to right field.

Alonso reached on a fielder’s choice and reached second base in the fifth inning as Gee made a throwing error to home trying to get Upton out. A Middlebrooks’ single then scored Matt Kemp and Alonso.

The Friars travel to Cincinnati today to take on the Reds (22-29) for three games starting tomorrow. Tyson Ross (2-5, 3.76) takes on Raisel Iglesias (1-1, 5.11) Friday evening at 4:10pm PDT.
