While You Were Drinking 2015 Game 48 (SD at LAA)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (23-25) scored more runs than the Los Angeles California Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (23-24), 5-4, last night in the final game of their series at Angel Stadium.

Andrew Cashner (2-7, 3.00) pitched seven innings, allowing all three Angels’ runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Carlos Perez had an RBI single in the second inning and an RBI double in the fourth inning. And Matt Joyce hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Garrett Richards (4-3, 3.12) pitched six and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Will Middlebrooks hit an RBI double in the second inning and a 2-run home run in the fourth inning. In the seventh inning, back-to-back RBI singles from Justin Upton and Matt Kemp proved to be the difference.

In the eighth inning, Brandon Maurer‘s scoreless innings streak ended at thirteen when Kole Calhoun‘s sacrifice fly added the Angels’ fourth run. Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth inning for his twelfth save.

Tonight the Padres are back at Petco Park for four games against the Pittsburgh Pirates (24-22). Ian Kennedy (2-4, 6.11) takes the mound against A.J. Burnett (4-1, 1.37) at 7:10pm PDT.
