Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (66-73) scored more runs than the Colorado Rockies (57-81), 2-1, last night at Petco Park.

Colin Rea (2-2, 4.26) pitched seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Kevin Quackenbush threw a perfect eighth inning. But Craig Kimbrel gave up a game-tying home run to Nolan Arenado with two outs in the ninth inning.

Jon Gray (0-0, 5.17) also shutout the Padres over his five innings of work with two hits, two walks, and six strikeouts. Luckily, Walt Weiss pulled Gray and brought in Gonzalez German to pitch the sixth inning. Wil Myers led off the inning with a home run to left field. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Cory Spangenberg led off with a double and advanced to third base on pinch-hitter Clint Barmes‘ sacrifice bunt. Brett Wallace then pinch-hit for Travis Jankowski and hit a fielder’s choice to the shortstop. The throw by Jose Reyes was not in time as Spangenberg crossed the plate.

Tonight, James Shields (10-6, 3.83) takes the hill against Chris Rusin (5-7, 4.78). First pitch is scheduled for 6:10pm PDT.
