Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an evening in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (54-60) scored more runs than the Cincinnati Reds (49-62) last night at Petco Park, 11-6.

Colin Rea (1-0, 5.40) made his Major League debut, pitching five innings and giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Joey Votto and Todd Frazier hit back-to-back one-out doubles in the fourth inning for the Reds’ first run. In the fifth inning, Tucker Barnhart doubled, advanced to third base on a ground out, and scored on a Billy Hamilton single. After a single advanced Hamilton to third base he scored on a sacrifice fly from Skip Schmuaker.

The Reds other three runs came in the ninth inning off Frank Garces. Frazier led off the inning with a solo home run to the second deck of the Western Metal Building. Two outs later, Barnhart singled and pinch-hitter Jason Bourgeois hit a home run to center field.

The Reds’ Michael Lorenzen (3-8, 5.46) only lasted one and a third innings, surrendering seven runs on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout. Yangervis Solarte went 2-for-4 and scored three runs. Jedd Gyorko had two hits and four RBI, including a two-run home run in the second inning. Yonder Alonso had two hits, scored two runs, and drove in two RBI. Even Rea got into the act, getting a hit in his first at-bat and later coming around to score his first ever run.

The final game of the series is this afternoon at 12:40pm PDT, with James Shields (8-4, 3.74) getting the start against Raisel Iglesias (2-4, 4.73) in the penultimate Way Back Wednesday of the 2015 season.
