While You Were Drinking 2014 Game 55 (SD at CWS)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an evening looting the soon-to-be-closed Randy Jones All-American Sports Grill as a favor to RJ’s Fro.  So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (25-30) defeated the Chicago White Sox (28-28) by a score of 4-1 last night in the series opener at US Cellular Field.  Cameron Maybin and Yonder Alonso each had home runs.  Maybin’s solo shot coming in the third inning gave the Padres an early lead.  And Alonso added a 2-run homer in the eighth inning to put the nail in the White Sox’ coffin.

Ian Kennedy (4-6, 3.42) pitched six innings, giving up the one White Sox run on 4 hits and 3 walks with 9 strikeouts.  White Sox starter John Danks (3-5, 4.66) pitched seven innings, surrendering only 2 runs on 8 hits and a walk with 4 strikeouts.

Today the Padres send Tyson Ross (5-4, 2.97) to the hill to face the White Sox and Andre Rienzo (4-1, 3.95) at 11:10 am PDT.
