Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening at the pub. So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
The Arizona Diamondbacks (11-22) handed the Padres (13-18) their fourth straight loss last night, 4-3. The Padres were shutout until the 9th inning, when Yasmani Grandal doubled to score Seth Smith and Jedd Gyorko hit a two-run home run to left field immediately after.
Ian Kennedy (2-4) allowed three runs on 11 hits and a walk with 7 strikeouts in his five innings. D-Backs’ starter Brandon McCarthy pitched seven shutout innings on 3 hits and a walk while striking out 6.
Padres’ late rally comes up short in fourth straight loss – Corey Brock (MLB.com)
Baffled again, Padres lose fourth straight – Jeff Sanders (UT San Diego)
“When you struggle like we’ve been, it’s tough. You’ve got to keep working … and trust what you’re doing. Hopefully, we can start bunching some hits together.”
Jedd Gyorko (Brock)
“It could have been better. I was falling behind guys and felt like it was a constant battle the whole game.”
Ian Kennedy (Brock)
