While You Were Drinking 2014 Game 13 (COL vs SD)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening in the pub. Especially when Jedd Gyorko signs a “monster” extension earlier in the day and some fans inexplicably get upset about the suite on the road he’s guaranteed now. So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (6-7) won last night’s game against the Colorado Rockies (6-8) in the most Padres way ever: scoring not one, but two runs on a wild pitch and an error on the same play to go ahead in the 8th inning.

Starter Eric Stults continued his slow start, giving up all 4 of the Rockies runs in his 5 innings on 9 hits and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts. Rockies starter Jordan Lyles didn’t fare much better, giving up 3 runs in 5 innings on 6 hits and 2 walks, also with 3 strikeouts.

In the bottom of the 8th, the Padres loaded the bases with 2 outs. Then Rockies reliever Rex Brothers threw a wild pitch, allowing Xavier Nady to score. Then catcher Wilin Rosario made a throwing error trying to get the ball to Brothers covering the plate, allowing Seth Smith to score the go-ahead run.

Tonight at 7:10 pm PDT, Robbie Erlin takes the mound for the Friars against the Rockies’ Juan Nicasio. At this time, it’s not any particular Opening Day/Night, but that could change.
