While You Were Drinking 2014 Game 122 (SD at STL)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending your evening at the pub — only to find out the pub doesn’t have Fox Sports One on their TV package either.  So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were watching Jaws: The Revenge on Spike…and drinking.

The Padres (58-63) defeated the St Louis Cardinals (64-57) in a rain-delayed game last night, 9-5.  Starters Jesse Hahn (7-3, 2.96) and Shelby Miller (8-9, 4.25) were left with no decisions, as the Padres came back from deficits of 4-0 and 5-4 to win.

Jake Goebbert hit a bases-loaded triple in the Padres’ four-run third inning.  Jedd Gyorko had five RBI, four of which came via his second grand slam home run of the year and third of his career to put the Friars ahead for good in the seventh inning.  After a one hour and 45 minute rain delay, Seth Smith added the ninth and final run in the eighth with an RBI single to drive in Yangervis Solarte.  And then Smith was thrown out trying to stretch that single into a double.  But, in the end, it didn’t matter.

Today at 11:15 am PDT the Padres will go up against Adam Wainwright (14-7, 2.34) in the final game of the series.  Hopefully, Odrisamer Despaigne (3-3, 2.72) can overcome his recent troubles and help the Padres split the series.
