While You Were Drinking 2014 Game 117 (COL vs SD)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending your evening at the pub.  So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (55-62) beat the Colorado Rockies (46-72) 4-3 last night in the first game of three at Petco Park.  Neither starting pitcher, the Padres’ Jesse Hahn (7-3, 2.52) or Colorado’s Jordan Lyles (6-1, 3.70), figured in the decision, as the Friars came back from a 3-1.  A 2-run home run from Yangervis Solarte  in the seventh capped the comeback.

Rymer Liriano made his major league debut with a start in right field, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a sacrifice fly that yielded his first RBI.

Kevin Quackenbush struck out all three Rockies in the eighth inning and Joaquin Benoit struck out the side in the ninth for his sixth save.

Tonight at 7:10 pm PDT the Padres will send Odrisamer Despaigne (2-3, 3.10) out on the hill to face the Rockies and Yohan Flande (0-4, 5.77).  It’s Taco Tuesday sponsored by Cholula Hot Sauce, which seems to be rivaling National University and Sycuan Casino in the sheer number of Padres sponsorships.
