Sometimes things get a little fuzzy when you spend an evening in the pub. So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (48-59) dropped the hammer on the St Louis Cardinals (56-50) last night, winning 12-1. The Friars were the beneficiaries of a solo home run to left field from Jedd Gyorko in the fourth inning. Yangervis Solarte went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. And Will Venable had a 3-run home run to right field that capped off an eight-run seventh inning.
Jesse Hahn (7-2, 2.01) pitched seven innings, giving up just one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Oh, and it was his 25th birthday, too. The Cardinals’ Joe Kelly was pulled after five innings, surrendering four runs on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

“It’s more of a fresh start than anything. What happened at the beginning, you can’t go back and change it and you can’t say it didn’t happen either – it’s there. It’s not something I like to think about a whole lot, but it’s something you can learn from. Obviously, things weren’t right, but I think I’ve gotten to the point where I’m pretty comfortable now.”

That was a really nice catch in CF by Alexi Amarista. Don't understand the fuss.

Jesse "Hahnie" Hahn is dealing. 6 up, 6 down. #padres.

If I had a dollar for every slow rolled-over ground ball to second Yonder has hit this year…

Oh great, now they're talking about stupid fake Twitter accounts on tv. Wonderful
— Tony Losoya (@Tony_Losoya) July 31, 2014
UGH!!! WHY ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT FAKE ACCOUNTS?!?!? DON'T ENCOURAGE THEM!

We're featuring parody counts on #FoxSportsSD now? Next, a cup-o coffee with Dick Enberg and more bloggers… yawn.

The Padres haven't blown a lead of more than two runs all season (mostly because they haven't had many big leads, but still impressive).

Gyorko is one away from tying the team record for home runs by a 2B. Trade deadline is just over 15 hours away. You do the math.

Gyorko with HR, Alonso with 3B, Amarista with leadoff single–what's going on here?? #Padres

I don’t know why Dick Enberg is always complaining about instant replay. He needs it just to get his play by play right.

Maybe somebody will see that and trade for Venable tomorrow. Please. #PPLive

Are we sure that inning wasn’t just another @Decker6 prank on Jeff Francoeur so that he could get out twice as a pinch hitter in one inning?
— Sean D. (@WonkoSD) July 31, 2014
Yes, Everth…he was throwing at your .219 hitting ass. Take the base & shut up. You can yell at people when your OBP doesn't start with a 2

Wasn't able to watch, but I've heard good things about this baseball contest. #PPLive
