While You Were (Day) Drinking: Game 161 (SD vs SF)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an afternoon in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were (day) drinking.

The Padres (76-85) dispensed a little payback for Friday to the Giants yesterday in San Francisco, hitting 3 home runs in a 9-3 win.

Eric Stults pitched a solid 7 innings, giving up all 3 runs on 7 hits and no walks with 3 K’s to become the Friars’ winningest pitcher of 2013 with 11. For the Giants, Yusmeiro Petit didn’t fare as well, lasting just 3 2/3 innings while giving up 5 runs on 7 hits with 2 K’s.

Chris Denorfia led off the game with his 10th home run. Jesus Guzman followed with a 2-run home run of his own in the 4th. And Jedd Gyorko added his 22nd on the season in the 9th with a 2-run shot.

In today’s final game of 2013, it will be Tyson Ross getting the start against Guillermo Moscoso at 1:05pm PDT.

For what it’s worth, Stults hit the 200 IP milestone as well. Not bad for a guy picked up off of waivers last year.
