Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending a Sunday afternoon at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

An unscheduled home run derby occurred yesterday afternoon as the Padres (37-41) scored fewer runs than the Arizona Diamondbacks (36-39), 6-4 at Petco Park.

Matt Kemp led off the game with his sixth home run of the season. Derek Norris hit two home runs, a two-run shot in the fourth inning and a solo home run in the sixth inning. For the Diamondbacks, Welington Castillo hit a three-run home run in the second inning, David Peralta had a solo home run in the third inning, and John Lamb added a two-run home run in the sixth inning.

Odrisamer Despaigne (3-6, 4.94) pitched five and two-third innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on three hits and no walks with six strikeouts. Padres manager Pat Murphy pulled Despaigne with one on and two outs in the sixth to bring in left-handed reliever Frank Garces to pitch to Lamb. That didn’t work out so well.

Chase Anderson (4-2, 3.66) gave up all four Padres’ runs over seven innings on five hits and a walk with one strikeout.

The Padres have a day off tomorrow before finishing up the Vedder Cup with two games against the Seattle Mariners (34-42) on Tuesday night. Ian Kennedy (4-6, 5.09) is penciled in to start against Mike Montgomery (2-2, 2.04) at 7:10pm PDT at Petco Park.
