Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an afternoon in the pub. So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (77-84) lost 3-1 to the San Francisco Giants (87-74) on a bases loaded two-run eighth inning single against Dale Thayer in the second-to-last game of the 2014 season.
Eric Stults (8-17, 4.30) went seven innings, giving up just one run on six hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Brandon Belt‘s RBI off of Stults came the second inning on a double to score Matt Duffy. In the eighth inning Thayer loaded the bases before Brandon Crawford singled to score Belt and Duffy.
Jake Peavy (6-4, 2.20) pitched five innings against his former team, giving up the one run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Yasmani Grandal hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, allowing Will Venable to score from third base.
The season comes to a close (finally) today from AT&T Park with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 pm PDT. Robbie Erlin (4-4, 4.53) gets the start against the Giants and rookie
Charlton Chris Heston (0-0, 0.00), who is getting his first ever Major League start.

Before his first warm-up pitch, Peavy quickly points toward #Padres dugout with his glove. Acknowledgment, no doubt, to Black and Balsley.
