While You Were (Day) Drinking 2014 Game 111 (ATL vs SD)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy when you spend an afternoon in the pub.  So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (51-60) defeated the Atlanta Braves (58-54) in ten innings by a score of 4-3 yesterday, thanks to a walk-off single by Everth Cabrera.  The Friars got out to an early lead with a RBI single from Tyson Ross in the second inning and a Cabrera sacrifice fly in the fourth.  Starting pitcher Ross shut the Braves out for six innings, but gave up two earned runs with none out in the seventh to tie up the game.

Tommy Medica hit a go-ahead solo home run to left field in the eighth inning off of Anthony Varvaro, but the Braves once again tied the game up at three after Joaquin Benoit blew the save in the ninth inning.

After a perfect 1-2-3 tenth inning from Tim Stauffer, Cabrera’s two-out single to right scored Alexi Amarista to win the game.

The Padres are off today as they travel to Minneapolis for a two-game series against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field starting on Tuesday at 5:10 pm PDT.
