Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (3-5) scored fewer runs than the Philadelphia Phillies (3-5), 3-0, last night at Citizens Bank Park.
Robbie Erlin (1-1, 0.93) pitched six innings, allowing just one run on three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Unfortunately for Erlin, Charlie Morton (1-1, 5.23) shut the Padres out over six and two-thirds innings on three hits, four walks, and seven strikeouts. The Phillies bullpen kept the Padres off the board.
The Phillies’ Odubel Herrera tripled in Tyler Goeddel for the first run with two outs in the sixth inning. The other two runs were scored in the eighth inning on an error after the Padres challenged the slide into second by Herrera that was upheld.
