Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (53-75) scored fewer runs than the Miami Marlins (67-61) in the first game of three at Marlins Park, 7-6, on a walk-off ground-rule double in the ninth inning by Chris Johnson.

Jarred Cosart (0-1, 4.23) pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Christian Yelich scored on Marcell Ozuna‘s double in the first inning. In the third, an RBI groundout by Yelich drove J.T. Realmuto in. Ozuna singled in the seventh inning and advance to second base on a fielding error by Patrick Kivlehan, allowing Realmuto to score. Martin Prado‘s single drove in Robert Andino and Yelich singled again to score Realmuto, again, in the eighth inning. Johnson’s two-out ground-rule double in the ninth inning scored Jeff Francoeur with the winning run.

David Phelps (7-6, 2.52) lasted just three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out six. Luis Sardinas‘ bases-clearing double in the fourth inning scored Alex Dickerson, Ryan Schimpf, and Kivlehan and Sardinas scored on an error by Phelps on a ball hit by Cosart. Schimpf hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Sardinas hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.

This evening’s second game will have Clayton Richard (0-3, 4.44) taking the mound against Jose Urena (2-4, 6.33). First pitch is at 4:10pm PDT.
