After opening your Padres Christmas gifts, get your Padres fix.

In a stroke of genius to counter the annual “A Christmas Story” marathon on another network, Fox Sports San Diego just announced that they will be running marathons of a few of their original shows on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

A couple of the programs may be of interest to Padres fans.

The last vestiges of Cary Chow’s reign of terror are finally gone from Fox Sports San Diego.

Nearly lost in all the hoopla last week of the Change the Padres video* was the announcement that Fox Sports San Diego had hired three new on-air talents. And, at the risk of sounding sexist and chauvinistic, they are — at the very least — easy on the eyes. That opinion has absolutely nothing at all to do with their obvious experience and qualifications, however.

Ron Fowler tells Tony Gwynn to suck it. Allegedly.

Fox Sports San Diego is going to televise the first games ever played at the new Fowler Park at the University of San Diego Friday, February 15th and Saturday, February 16th. These games will determine once and for all* who has the greatest college baseball team in San Diego County: the USD Toreros or the SDSU Aztecs.

*And by once and for all, I mean until next year when they play this annual series again.

Both games are starting at 6:00 pm, with Friday’s game featuring an hour-long pregame special hosted by Andy Masur. That show will feature in-depth looks at the construction of Fowler Park and a tribute to Ron Fowler.

The play-by-play for both games will be handled by Mike Pomeranz and Mark Sweeney, with newcomer Kelly Crull reporting from the dugouts. So it’s sort of a preview for this Padres season.

So set your DVRs or your VCRs, if you can’t watch it live or be there in person.

Of course, if you have Time Warner Cable, go to a friend’s house or a bar, because you’re screwed.

Fox Sports San Diego announced today that DISH network would be picking up the channel in time for Opening Day.

@FoxSportsSD

This makes Time Warner Cable the lone holdout on Fox Sports San Diego. So, I can only tell those of you who still have Time Warner (AHEM, Avenging Jack Murphy) to switch to literally ANY OTHER TV PROVIDER available in San Diego County.

It’s apparent that Time Warner has a plan. Just don’t ask me what that plan is.

Gaslamp Ball has a theory. It makes no sense from my standpoint, but it’s a theory.
