Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after spending an evening in the pub.  So here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (41-53) lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers (53-43) in the bottom of the ninth with a sacrifice fly for a final score of 1-0.  Ian Kennedy pitched arguably his best game this season, going eight innings while giving up just three hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.  Paul Maholm also pitched a gem, going six innings for the Dodgers with only two hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.

Kevin Quackenbush pitched the ninth inning and loaded the bases on one hit and two walks.  A.J. Ellis came up with one out and hit the game-winning sacrifice fly to right field to score Adrian Gonzalez and end the game.

This afternoon is the final game of the series and the final game before the All-Star break.  Tyson Ross (7-9, 2.93) takes the hill for the Padres against Hyun-Jin Ryu (9-5, 3.65) at 1:10 pm PDT.
