In case you missed it, Sac Bunt Chris and myself had the awesome honor of being on Padres Social Hour last Friday, mere hours after the trade deadline. We both had a blast and a huge thank you goes out to Jesse, Blooper (Seth), Nicky and the poor intern who had to fetch us unwrapped Watermelon Jolly Ranchers, cut into 3rds and soaked in a bowl of strawberry lemonade, during every commercial break. We are so demanding.

Join us for Part 1 of the highly anticipated Jesse Agler interview! We sit down with the host of Padres POV and occasional TV/Radio broadcaster at Mike Hess Brewing in North Park to chat about what really makes him tick. When he, and his dad, think his love of baseball started, how he got his start in broadcasting, what he remembers from his initial Miami Dolphins interview with Mike Dee, who he reaches out to in San Diego when he needs some broadcasting advice and MORE!

We also chat with Greg Hess and, a familiar name in Padre-land, Cesar Torres, about the ins and outs of Mike Hess Brewing! How they got their start, Hessfest (THIS SATURDAY! GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!), the Open Mike cans, their big plans in OB and North Park and more!

*Due to the file size I had to split up the Jesse Agler interview into 2 parts. Part 2 will be up as soon as my Vimeo account limit refreshes (Monday….I think)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.

The Padres (30-29) scored more runs than the Atlanta Braves (27-30), 5-3 in 11 innings yesterday. Neither Ian Kennedy (3-5, 6.48) nor Shelby Miller (5-2, 1.84) figured in the decision.

Kennedy allowed three runs on eight hits and no walk with six strikeouts in five innings. Cameron Maybin, Freddie Freeman, and Nick Markakis each had one RBI for the Braves.

Miller pitched seven innings giving up just one run on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts. Cory Spangenberg had two RBI and Justin Upton, Matt Kemp, and Alexi Amarista each added one RBI apiece for the Padres.

Craig Kimbrel pitched the eleventh inning for his 14th save on the season and 200th of his career.

Tonight at 4:10pm PDT will see James Shields (7-0, 3.58) going against Mike Foltynewicz (3-2, 4.29) at Turner Field. Join us at Mike Hess Brewing in North Park to watch the game and stay for a live Padres And Pints taping with Jesse Agler of Padres Social Hour and broadcasting legend Bob Chandler.

Padres and Pints, the video series, RETURNS WITH A VENGEANCE!

The 19th episode takes you to the 2014 MLB Winter Meetings where we chat with Eno Sarris of FanGraphs (+BeerGraphs & the finest hair in the biz), Jonah Keri of Grantland (+Author de jour  & our 2nd Canadian!) and Chris Long Statistician Extraordinaire for a mystery MLB team (+formerly of the Padres).

We return to both Societe Brewing Co. (Episode 8) & Mission Brewery (Episode 14) and learn about the a tale of lost love, Red Stripe & Jamaica from Eno, the knock down drag out brawl Jonah witnessed while walking downtown San Diego, & bourbon and horse racing from Chris Long. Oh yeah, we talk about baseball & beer too!

It’s a long episode, however I had over 2 hours of footage I had to cut down. Also I wanted to get this out last week but AJ Preller went all “Terrier” on everyone, overhauled his entire roster in 2 days and sent me back to the drawing board.

We hope you enjoy!!

There has been a (nearly) total lack of any interesting Padres news coming out of the Winter Meetings this year. Unless you count Dick Enberg receiving the Ford C. Frick Award or A.J. Preller’s broken computer. Which I don’t, obviously.  Quite frankly, everyone else on Padres Public has done a much better job of analyzing nothing this week than I ever could.

So let’s have a bit of mindless fun, shall we?

This past year saw Alesmith Brewing releasing a collaboration with the late Tony Gwynn on a new beer, .394 San Diego Pale Ale.  If you haven’t had a chance to try it yet, I recommend you get to Alesmith’s Miramar tasting room and do so at your earliest convenience.  It is a mighty tasty beer.

This brought up an interesting topic to examine:

What could local breweries do to honor other Padres players with their own beer?

Well, maybe not interesting, per se.  But what else are we supposed to talk about?

*My only rule:  You won’t see anything about Eric Show or Alan Wiggins or anyone else that ever publicly had a problem with substance abuse.  That’s a line that I won’t cross.
