Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (46-60) scored more runs than the Milwaukee Brewers (47-57), 7-3 last night, in the first of three games at Petco Park.
Jarred Cosart (0-1, 5.09) only lasted three and a third innings, giving up no runs on one hit and three strikeouts but with six walks. Carlos Villanueva (2-2, 5.71) gave up a two-run home run to Hernan Perez in the fifth inning. Chris Carter hit a solo home run in the eighth inning off Brad Hand.
Jimmy Nelson (6-10, 3.74) surrendered six runs on eight hits and four walks with four strikeouts in four innings pitched. A ground out by Derek Norris drove in Ryan Schimpf in the second inning. In the fifth inning, Alexi Amarista brought Travis Jankowski in with a single, Christian Bethancourt and Wil Myers scored on a single by Yangervis Solarte, a Schimpf triple brought Solarte in, and a sacrifice fly by Adam Rosales scored Schimpf. In the eighth inning, a double steal by Jankowski and Myers drew a throw to second base to try to get Myers, and Jankowski sprinted home and beat the throw.
