Sometimes things get a little fuzzy during an evening at the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you may have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres (57-82) scored fewer runs than the Boston Red Sox (78-61), 7-2, in the finale of their three game series at Petco Park.
Jarred Cosart (0-3, 5.16) was removed after three and a third innings after straining his hamstring and groin while covering first base on a ground ball. Cosart gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walk with one strikeout. Travis Shaw hit a two-run home run in the second inning. Shaw then singled in the fourth inning to drive in Jackie Bradley Jr. and later scored on Dustin Pedroia‘s two-run double. Hanley Ramirez hit a solo home run in the eighth inning and Brock Holt‘s pinch-hit solo home run in the ninth inning closed out the scoring.
David Price (15-8, 3.92) surrendered two runs on six hits and no walks in seven innings while striking out eight. Yangervis Solarte‘s RBI double to drive in Wil Myers in the first inning put the Padres on the scoreboard. Myers hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to drive in Cosart.
