Edwin Jackson (5-6, 5.77) gave up all five runs in his six innings on six hits and two walks while striking out five. Jean Segura scored on a Welington Castillo single in the first inning. In the third inning, Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run home run. Chris Owings hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
Braden Shipley (4-5. 5.26) allowed three runs on seven hits and two walk in five innings with three strikeouts. In the fourth inning, Ryan Schimpf hit a two-run home run with no outs and two outs later Manuel Margot drove in Luis Sardinas with a double.
The penultimate game of 2016 tonight will have Clayton Richard (3-3, 2.98) taking the mound against Archie Bradley (7-9, 5.15) starting at 5:10pm PDT.

Clayton Richard (3-3, 2.98) shutout the Diamondbacks for six and a third innings until Kyle Jensen tripled to drive in Yasmany Tomas and Phil Gosselin singled to score Jensen. Richard ended his night after that, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two.
Braden Shipley (4-4, 5.49) gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk in four innings with three strikeouts. Wil Myers hit a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning and Alexi Amarista hit a two-run single with the bases loaded.
Tonight’s second game will have Paul Clemens (3-5, 4.94) taking the mound against Archie Bradley (7-9, 5.07) starting at 7:10pm PDT.

Luis Perdomo (6-7, 6.24) allowed just one unearned run in seven innings on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Phil Gosselin single and advanced to second base on a throwing error by Perdomo in the seventh inning. Gosselin then took third base on a sacrifice fly by Mitch Haniger and scored on Brandon Drury single.
Braden Shipley (2-3, 5.45) gave up seven runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five in five and a third innings. Travis Jankowski hit a two-run home run with Patrick Kivlehan on base in the third inning. In the fifth inning, an Adam Rosales triple drove in Kivlehan again and Rosales scored on Perdomo’s double. Alex Dickerson led off the sixth inning with a solo home run, Christian Bethancourt scored on a Brett Wallace double, and Wallace was driven in by Kivlehan’s single. Kivlehan scored once more in the eighth inning on an Alexei Ramirez single.
The Chicago Cubs (78-45) come to Petco Park for three games starting tonight at 7:10pm PDT. Edwin Jackson (3-3, 5.36) gets the start tonight against Jon Lester (13-4, 2.86).
