I like the color brown for Padres uniforms. I like the “Bring Back The Brown” movement. It shows our commitment to Padres history and folklore. However, out of this vocal minority wanting to bring the Padres back to our roots, to our brown and yellow days, I feel just a tad off their beaten path. I like the navy blue too. I LOVED it when the Padres went to blue and orange in the 90s. I thought it looked so cool! But, in the last 15 years, our uniforms have transformed to bland, removing the orange all together and replacing it with “sand”. Then, back in 2011, they really embraced the boring navy and completely minimized the sand color to next to nothing but an outline. This was a mistake. You need a second color. You need an accent color. And, with the unveiling of the new 2016 All-Star logo, we now will have that accent color! Ladies and gentlemen…YELLOW IS BACK!
They are merging the worlds together. Yellow was part of the Padres pallet from 1969-1984. It is in our history. Not many teams use yellow (OAK, PIT, and to a lesser extent KC, TB, SEA, and MIL). It is bold, it represents the San Diego sunshine, and it really looks great against Padres blue. The color makes the logo pop. Sure, the logo is pretty standard as far as All-Star logos go (however I think it is slick and an upgrade to anything we have put out in a decade), but, I also think it is telling. They are showing us the new look for next year. I think we are getting new uniforms and Padres Blue, Sunshine Yellow, and Battleship Grey are gonna be the new color scheme. Yellow will replace the sand color. They could go as far as making a yellow alternate jersey like the A’s and shock everybody…in a good way! They will save money on not having to replace the Padres Blue that consumes PETCO Park, and embrace the yellow, and grey as well. Sure, it is not brown, but it is using a color from Padres past. Come on, can’t we live with that!
I had a hunch feeling the vocal minority has made an impact. The media, for the most part, supports the #BringBackTheBrown movement and just look at what people are wearing at a PETCO Park…brown is everywhere. So, I think there will be a brown and yellow alternate jersey.
Does this logo rule out brown for 2016? @PadresMikeDee: "Not necessarily."

It will probably be worn once a week and look like our current alternate, but it will be a brown jersey with a yellow “SD” on the left chest. This is just a guess of course. They could still give the middle finger to all the Padres Public bloggers and Team Brown, but I am optimistic they won’t.
Look, I might be the vocal minority of the vocal minority, I love the brown and Padres blue. But, I see brightness in the near future (not only with our team, but with our brand) and that brightness is YELLOW! #BringBackTheYellow
