Padres Re-Creation Night

We are not in the breaking news business.  Except for today.

The San Diego Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) Chapter (Ted Williams Chapter) will host a Padres Re-Creation Night on August 9th.  Several members of Padres Public are active members of the local SABR chapter. Specifics:

The Ted Williams Chapter will present a Radio Broadcast Re-creation on Friday, August 9th, starting at 5:45pm, hosted by the Scripps Ranch Library located at 10301 Scripps Lake Drive, San Diego and presented by the Aramco Group.  Doors to the Auditorium will open at 5:30pm.

Long-time Padres announcer and SABR member Bob Chandler will call the action. Chandler will describe the Padres memorable moment in the grand tradition of those announcers who created the game from ticker tape reports and their imagination.  He will re-create nine memorable moments from Padres history.  Chandler’s half-inning re-creation of the events ‘in-studio’ will include sound effects, vivid descriptions, and interviews during each half-inning with Padres luminaries of yesterday.

The re-creation will be broadcast live on XEPE-AM 1700 and City TV within the San Diego city limits (Ch. 24 on Cox and Time Warner; Ch. 99 on AT&T U-Verse).

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased via multiple means:

  • Via check (payable to SABR) mailed to Andy Strasberg, 136 Redwood Street San Diego CA 92103.  Checks must be received no later than July 29.
  • At the Scripps Ranch Library Auditorium door on August 9 beginning at 5pm.  Cash or check only.  Tickets at the door are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets can also be reserved in advance by emailing  Reservations must include the number of tickets reserved.

In addition to the re-creation, there will be a silent auction of baseball memorabilia.

Hope to see you there.
