Haiku-arrhea: Week 7 in Padres Baseball

In an effort to stay close to our roots, the staff at Padres Public, will offer-up a haiku each Monday to describe the previous week in Padres Baseball. Restricting our feelings to 3 lines and 17 syllables to describe a week of play is a massive undertaking, but (un) fortunately, we are more than up to the task.

The Padres went 4-2 this week to move their record to 20-23. They swept the Orioles in a short 2 game series, earning their 4th sweep of the season, and then split a 4 game series with Washington. The Pads are 4.5 games behind the 1st place D-Backs and 2.5 games ahead of last place Los Angeles. Last place Los Angeles. Last place Los Angeles. I enjoyed that.

Here’s how a small contingent of Padres Public contributors felt about the week . . . in haiku format.

Ghost of Ray Kroc

Baltimore: Two wins

Washington: Two out of four

Free Kyle Blanks now, Bud

Vocal Minority (Nate)

After such a bad

Start, mediocrity can

Feel like excellence.

Avenging Jack Murphy

Salvaging a split

Is sweet but Venable still

Not a 2 hitter

Son of a Duck

With much less money

The Padres are in fourth place

Ahead of LA

Have a haiku? Go ahead and get it off your chest in the comments. Why haiku? Read this.

I contribute to Padres Public on Thursday mornings and when I’m feeling particularly inspired. I can also be found on twitter at @AvengingJM where I write derogatory things about the playing time Will Venable receives, 7 days a week.
